Amazingly, it is possible to understand and use the sextant in a very short time, employing simple calculations, to find your position using the sun. With a little extra study, you can go on to use the stars and other heavenly bodies. There is no need to get confused by complicated background theory. We will teach you how to master Astro using a reliable method, devised from our years of experience.

At our Cowes Classroom you will be carefully tutored to ensure an immensely satisfying and rewarding weekend. All course materials are provided within the weekend price of £135, it is suggested, however, you may wish to bring your own favoured plotting instruments and a note pad.

We can arrange local accommodation in an inexpensive, friendly B&B should you require.

For those who wish to attain the Yachtmaster Ocean Certificate, or just enjoy the challenge of extending their knowledge, we offer the second weekend, with the option of the RYA Yachtmaster Ocean shorebased examination - £25 examination fee. This theory certificate is a mandatory requirement for the Yachtmaster Ocean grade and will need to be presented during the assessment of practical sights (from the 600M qualifying passage) and subsequent oral examination.
