Throughout its history,
the weather has played a major
part, never more so than in
1979, when Force 11 winds ripped
through the fleet. This led to a
complete review of yacht design
and safety standards for
offshore racing.
From Cowes
the 605 mile course leads down
the English Channel, across the
Celtic Sea to the Fastnet Rock
and back to Plymouth.
This race gives you the chance
to do battle with the top racing
crews and compete in one of the
most fascinating races ever
devised. With Go Sail,
you will become part of a race
team, for a season. Starting
with an early season race
training weekend during February
or March, competing in at least
three compulsory qualifying
R.O.R.C. races held in May, June
and July, then finally taking
part in this unique event.
We are not in the event simply
to cruise around and say "we
took part". With Go Sail you
will be truly race trained and
your yacht will be a well known
racing yacht, with a history of
success. We will, as in the past
few years, offer you a high
performance racing yacht
selected from latest designs
available. These are equipped to
a very high level and are race
prepared.
The Go Sail team will led by
Terry Rowe; he has skippered
seven Fastnets, two Round
Britain and four Transatlantic
Races, apart from countless
other inshore and offshore
events.
